SWEET POTATO TURKEY BURGERS
So, burgers are the cool thing right now. The bigger, more American and dramatic the better in my eyes. However, to get any of this you normally inhale Brioche Bun, large amounts of cheese (amazing gooey delicious heaven sent bad cheese) and God knows what quality meat….basically PALEO NOOO NO.
Love or hate the PALEO lifestyle, there will always be a time that this type of image below makes your heart melt while drooling all over yourself and crying into your Paleo cookbooks!
So, I have took it upon myself to make my own version of one of these heavenly Burgers. Because yes I will admit, I LOVE BURGERS AND THINK BAD THOUGHTS ABOUT EATING THEM!!!
Turkey sweet potato paleo burger!
500g lean Turkey mince (makes aprox 6-8 burgers)
1 small red onion finely diced
1 carrot shredded
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
1 tsp onion powder
1 clove of garlic minced
Sea salt and pepper
Put all of the above into a bowl in get your hands in and mix this all together, if you have a blender then you could maybe use this to save time (call it fast pale food).
Once blended, take handful and pat down into burger shaped patties.
Grill – these take around 12-15 mins to grill depending on the size.
Sweet potato ‘bun’
Slice your sweet potato to approx. 1/2 inch thick.
Place all ‘Buns” on a tray and put in the oven for 15 minutes on 200 degrees (or you can blast them in the microwave for speed, approx. 3 minutes).
Then take the Buns and grill this either side like your toasting a bun!
Build a burger
I teamed the above with lettuce, tomato, red onion and smoked streaky bacon.
Let me know if you try this out, I hope you Enjoy!
